Saint Teresa (1515-1582) was born into a noble family of Ávila on March 28, 1515. Religiously inclined from a young age, Teresa was fascinated by the lives of the saints and ran away several times to seek martyrdom at the hands of the Moors. The "Four Posts" monument on the hill above Ávila marks the spot where her father brought her back at the age of seven.
She was a conformer, an author and patron Saint of Avila. El Grande, the town's main square is Santa Teresa plaza. She is beloved in the city. I have explored several of her sacred sites. My first week I discovered Santa Teresa plaza and the statues there. The second week, I visited the Santa Teresa museum and the four posts site. Today I visited the relics of Santa Teresa. We saw many of her items, but the most interesting (creepy?) was seeing her left ring finger with a ring still on it preserved in glass. Very old and indistinguishable. I have, however, been inspired by her devotion to God and her writings.

um...I wanted to see a photo of the finger!
