Salamanca is a beautiful and interesting city. I was lucky to have Diana, Tamera and Diego. my tour guides were former residents, history lovers and good story tellers... Here are two of my favorite points...
Tentenecio Street
A popular legend tells that Tentenecio Street has its name from San Juan de Sahagún who, once while walking on this street was approached by a big bull which had escaped from the market and was running crazily. Sahagún shouted «¡Tente, necio" (stop, fool!) and the bull, stopped amazingly. The name of the street comes from this tale.
Mysterious carvings- frog and astronaut
Students of University of Salamanca, the oldest in Spain and third oldest in the world, are greeted with the old legend of the frog on the skull. It is presented as a challenge, that the students must spot the frog on the skull on the façade of the University, otherwise they will not be able to graduate as doctors. Tourists visit, stare and point at it and try to find it to attract good luck.
The second strange carving is an astronaut carved into the cathedral door. I had fun finding both of these..

Is the penguin for Chuck? Has s/he gotten to travel around Spain with you?
